Proposed Project Title: Bath/Jacuzzi |
The brief - what is the product and what will it do?
The product runs and maintains a relaxing and stress free bath for a user
The important feature(s) of the product
The user will turn on the bath and set the temperature, the bath will then turn on the cold water taps only and then heat the water to the right temperature and turn off when the bath is full When the product is in use, the bath will maintain the user defined temperature through a mix of heating and insulation The bath will also have incorporate taps in it to avoid users getting hurt on them.
Market/customers – the user(s), the buyer(s)?
The buyer will be focus on people who lead busy lives. They don’t have a lot of time to relax. And they relieve stress by taking baths. So the target user will be focus on 35~50 years old and they are in medium salary or better.
Existing products – competition
There are similar products in the existing market call Jacuzzi, but those products are quite expensive and cannot keep the temperature longer and does not automatically fill the water and stop.
- How to heat the bath - Safety issues - Keeping temperature – insulation materials - Manufactory process
Humanistic Challenge – - Designing a easy to use interface and temperature control - Safety issues: over heating - Incorporating a tap into the tub so as to prevent injury |
What if design requirements are really opportunities in disguise? In the first in a series of videos on the future of transportation, Mark Frauenfelder, founder of BoingBoing.net and Christopher Borroni-Bird, Director of Advanced Technology Vehicle Concepts, discuss design and how it relates to vehicles.
Chinese Style Multi-purpose Lounge Chair
1.0 Scope
The product is a Chinese style multi-purpose lounge chair which is designed for people to sit for long time comfortably, such as when they reading books. The product will have the functions of chair, light and storage. The product is based on the idea which will bring Chinese culture element into the design. The products will show how to use understanding of Chinese Culture element and contemporary design methodologies to design a contemporary Chinese chair by up to date materials and processes.
2.0 Background
In furniture design industry of China, the designers haven’t broken the rule of copying the traditional style design from the Ming dynasty or Qing dynasty furniture style and they haven’t thought about the importance of using contemporary design methodologies into the design area, such as ergonomics and people’s life habit. On another hand, in modern design side Chinese designers plagiarize Italy or western countries of furniture design style. So I think that mixing Chinese culture element and contemporary design methodologies is the best solution for Chinese furniture design industry.
